CRYSTAL WORSHIP

My name is Ryan von Minus (vonminus), and I help make rad stories.
I specialize in concept, narrative design, dialogue, and multimedia storytelling.
I have written for games and ads, published two comics and a punk poetry zine,
I really enjoy my work, especially collaborating with creative individuals on high-quality projects. Over my 20+ years in the entertainment industry, I've discovered that the people I work with are what motivate me the most. Whether they're nurturing or challenging, they've pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me develop skills in communication and understanding different perspectives.
Below is a description of my experience and some cool projects I can show you.
Thank you in advance for checking out my work, it means a lot.

Sony Computer Entertainment - PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
god of war 2
I started working in game development in 2006 at SCEA in Foster City helping with LAIR, God Of War 2, SOCOM, and many others. During my time there I was able to work with both pre and post production teams helping structure story and mechanics with composers and music.
TELLTALE GAMES - qa, Audio, production
sam + MAX
At Telltale games, I was given a chance to help with story and sound for Sam and Max, Bone, CSI Hard Evidence as well as many others. Working with a small creative team, I was able to get my first taste of game writing and worked directly with writers and producers to safeguard the theme and narrative style. As a QA tester, I was tapped for character alignment with choices and if the player choices were effective.
grey advertising - writer, music producer
robots
While working for Grey Advertising in NYC, DirecTV approached us with an idea for a mobile game/campaign based on popular robots from a commercial that got a lot of attention, and I did sound and music for it. I was also one of the writers tasked with writing a script with the storyboard artist for an intro and motion comic. I learned about writing dialogue and content that would serve to move an audience quickly through the establishment of conflict and give just enough resolution so that they would be satisfied but left wanting more.
DAMAGE CITY GAMES
Damage City games is a project I started with Sheldon Vella, an amazing artist that has worked at companies like Marvel, DC, Evil Ink, and Nickelodeon to name a few. I have written and designed several games, and we have settled upon Apartment 25j as our flagship IP. Apartment 25j features a branching narrative that is influenced by players' decisions and game mechanics. I have learned so much from creating these games, including how to pair character development with the gaining of strength and abilities in the player character; my highest achievement is learning to organize the spider web of story branches in programs like Articy Draft and Dialogue System.
